Today's Thought

"Neither Satan nor any other power can weaken or destroy your growing character. Only you could do that through disobedience. That is why Satan is so intently focused on tempting you to make decisions that will undermine your character. Satan is an accomplished master at making devastating choices appear attractive, even reasonable. So be careful. At this critical time of life you will be faced with many choices. The decisions you will make will profoundly affect life now and for eternity. Make them wisely and prayerfully."

Anniversary Inn & Easter

Easter Weekend Daddy and I packed up and went to Boise.
Last Christmas the kids gave us a gift certificate for Anniversary Inn so we decided to use it up in Boise.  We got to Boise just in time for dinner so we met Chelsea and Jason at Cheesecake Factory. I wanted the Sweet Corn Tamale Cakes. Oh they are so good!

The people next to us got their food first and one kid had some really yummy looking mashed potatoes. I asked if I could have a bite. He was a little hesitant but said I could. I didn't though. But when my dinner came I told him what I had and asked if he wanted a bite. He was still enjoying his potatoes so he declined.

After dinner, Chelsea got some Cheesecake to go and we said our good byes and headed to the Anniversary Inn. We pulled in the driveway and realized that someone forgot to pack toothbrushes so off we went to find a store.

Of the rooms that were available we choose Sultan's Palace. In the morning we slept in. It was so nice. We forgot about the waiting cheesecake the Anniversary Inn had provided the night before so we ate it for breakfast after regular breakfast. We were then able to peek in some rooms on our way out. All I could think of was the money they put in to each room to decorate and the imagination.

We then went to Chelsea's and helped color Easter eggs (no pictures, we should be grounded).

I was able to watch Women's Conference and Chelsea was nice enough to have the kids shush during the conference. She really didn't need to but that was thoughtful. Cookie actually sat by me the whole time while she doodled on her tablet making pictures. Grandpa watched with us...well except when he was studying the back of his eyelids. Bananie read and I'm not sure where the rest disappeared.

Sunday morning the kids had an Easter egg hunt before we had to rush and get ready for church. They went to their church and Daddy and I went around the corner to ours.
All three meetings were wonderful! I LOVE church and I love the spirit and the reminders and the instructions we receive by attending.

We had a great weekend.

Oh and I read all the way up and all the way back.
For work we will be going to a class and we were asked to read the book Leadership and Self-Deception before the class. We really enjoyed it and were able to finish it. It reminds me a lot of what our apostles and scriptures teach us.

Be kind to others, no matter what!

Conference and Cards

As always General Conference was great! I have to admit that there are some years that it is hard to stay away for all the sessions, not because they are boring but just because you are home in your cozy house with food food food all around and you eat until you're very comfortable, then all of a sudden there is a hum....going on in your living room.

Well this year I stayed awake through every session and every talk and song. I enjoyed it immensely! I found a little trick. You see years ago we used to cut up denim jeans in to squares to use in quilts. This kept us awake as well. We haven't done that for a few years though.

THIS year, I made cards. Last year I was signed up for card making with Chelsea but then she up and moved away so we didn't go make cards every month and they stacked up.

I am a good copier and a good non-conformist however I am NOT a very good at coming up with my own ideas. Thus, I still have material that I don't know how to put together because the web page didn't have pictures of a few of them.

I didn't sign up this year for cards but I am rethinking that maybe I can still see if I can sign up and get the last three months and then let them stack up again for next conference.

Something to think about anyway.

SIX Years

Our goal is to retire in SIX years. Seems like forever more, but looking back at how far we've come it seems just around the corner.

As technology continues to advance and my mind continues to forget I wonder if I will make it even the six years that I have left until I can retire.

More and more I have to do reports online, file online, work online. My rememberer doesn't remember much anymore. I am constantly writing step-by-step notes on each project that I do and have done for years. However most of my responsibilities ARE changing to the online step so new notes need to be made.

We could probably retire sooner but we would take a big hit in several ways. One being that we would bring home less than HALF of retirement than if we were to stick it out to my full 30 years of service (six more years). Also we would have no health insurance and I would have to wait even longer until I qualify for Medicare/aid. Plus that is that much more income that we would not be bringing in with a paycheck.

Decisions decisions.

I told dad that we could go on mission after mission, that way we can get insurance through them.

Serving a mission while we are still healthy is our goal.

Sooo.........this

and this
along with all the sewing I want to do
will have to wait SIX more years!

Ohhhh yes, I'm counting!

January 9 Saturday Night Date Night

Sometimes our date nights are spent in comfortable silence.
I love this guy!

I cherish "most" of our time together.

Life is Worth Living

"Life is worth living wherever you are

Deep down in a dungeon or high on a star.

Life is worth living, it all has a plan

When God knows you're giving the best that you can.

The saint and the sinner, the great and the small.

We are all God's children and He loves us all.

So pray when you're happy and pray when you're blue

For life is worth living when God lives with you."

Finding Faith in Christ

This morning as I was getting ready in the hotel for my meetings I turned on this video, Finding Faith in Christ. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea until AFTER I put my makeup on. Wonderful video. Where am I? Do I have enough faith. As I watched this I felt my freshly shaven leg hairs grow back.

Things Change, Fancy. They change all the time.

We have some upcoming changes happening  at our house and with our family.
First off, we adopted a new son. His name is RAM 2500.

We love our new addition!
