Today's Thought

"Neither Satan nor any other power can weaken or destroy your growing character. Only you could do that through disobedience. That is why Satan is so intently focused on tempting you to make decisions that will undermine your character. Satan is an accomplished master at making devastating choices appear attractive, even reasonable. So be careful. At this critical time of life you will be faced with many choices. The decisions you will make will profoundly affect life now and for eternity. Make them wisely and prayerfully."

Final Christmas Tree Skirt

I didn't finish this Tree skirt until AFTER Christmas.
It was for Chelsea.
In order for her to get this she had to exchange for pictures of the grand kids.

We were both a little late for Christmas presents.

On this one I decided to leave off the ties.
I'm not sure if people really tie theirs or not.
I hope she doesn't notice.

This is my first attempt at making a label.
It turned out ok but I want to make them smaller AND Chelsea reminded me that I left the year off.

Other than being late and not the perfect tag...
I think it turned out cute.
Loved the polka dot for the binding!

Grandma's Tree skirt

Next...

Before I finished my first tree skirt I had to go get the material for the back of it sooo....
while I was there I got enough material for the
front AND back
for more tree skirts.

This one I made for my mom.
It was a lot faster and cheaper to just buy several colors and NOT do the charms.

This still turned out cute.

However...

While I was happily sewing the batting on I got about 3/4 of the way done and realized....

I LEFT THE BACK OFF!!!

Gah!

So I went ahead and sewed the batting on and then went back and sewed the back on.

Thus giving me this cute serpentine stitch on the back

and the front in between the straight stitchs.

Then I added this cute binding on.

Sometimes when life throws you lemons (or when you mess up on your own)
You make lemonade.

Tree Skirt

In November we went to Arizona for a family reunion and Thanksgiving.

I decided to make a tree skirt for the family reunion auction.
Since of course I have never made one of these before either.

Then when I found a blog, The Shy One Sews, and saw Georgi working on these beautiful tree skirts I emailed her to get some help with material and measurements and all.

I ordered my handy dandy new 10 degree ruler and some charms and built my first tree skirt!

Then I added this fancy stitch with my new machine!!
Can I just tell you how much I love my machine?

Georgi was so helpful and encouraging every time I had a question or sent her a progress picture!

I told Doran that if no one bid at least what the charm packs cost to buy it back.
My mother-in-law bought this for $40

Now on to more Christmas projects.
