Today's Thought

"Neither Satan nor any other power can weaken or destroy your growing character. Only you could do that through disobedience. That is why Satan is so intently focused on tempting you to make decisions that will undermine your character. Satan is an accomplished master at making devastating choices appear attractive, even reasonable. So be careful. At this critical time of life you will be faced with many choices. The decisions you will make will profoundly affect life now and for eternity. Make them wisely and prayerfully."

April 24 & 25, Monday & Tuesday

Sunday we walked to church again.
Elder Shelley was sustained and set apart as Elder Quorum Secretary. Sister Shelley will be his sidekick. In this Branch, whoever gets the calling, their companion attends most of the meetings with them as well.

Monday we trained in the Smith Pavilion again.
For dinner we met the Bishop's, Rawling's, and Erickson's at "Buon Appetito Italian Bistro", that is just around the corner from Cowboy Camp.
It was raining a bit and we saw a beautiful rainbow.

Monday night it snowed on the mountain, so we got to drive back up through the snowy roads.

Tuesday morning we split up in to two groups. We were in the first group and we all hiked up to Challenge Course 1.

This course was still buried.
The 1st year Elder's got to practicing a rescue. They normally wouldn't be hooked up to the Belay attached to the guys on the ground. They take "rabbit ears" and hook them to anchors on the poles on the opposite tree as they climb up and help a stranded climber. Then they got to practice the Back belay.

The first thing they do is tie the black rope on to the belay rope, then it is threaded up through the pully up on the wires. Elder Shelley did this first tie.

This is Elder and Sister Stephens, basking in the snow.

While the 1st years were climbing, there were a few Elder's digging to find the benches. There is at least four to five feet of packed snow still in the way. Unfortunately, there is no way to get the skid steer up to this course. We will just have to pray for a miracle to get this snow off the mountain.

This is a video of Elder Shelley's first practice with "rescue" on Challenge Course 1.

April 20, Thursday

Thursday we took our first trip to Course 2. The snow is so deep that the porta potties are still buried.

This is Sister Densley. It is their 1st year as well.

This is the path to get there. Still SOOO snowy. Elder Beardall was up until almost midnight just clearing a path with a skid steer so we could get to the course.

He was able to clear both sides of part of the course. We weren't going to use the zip part, so he didn't worry about that part.

We need to pray for a miracle for this snow to be gone before the girls start coming, WITHOUT flooding Heber City below.

Sister Farrer, our Zone leader, paving the way for the newbies.
It doesn't look as far up because there is still several feet of snow below where it should be bare ground.

Blogger wouldn't let me upload more videos, so here are a couple of links of Sister Shelley doing her first climb and back belay.

More wonderful messages from some more missionaries.
