Today's Thought

"Neither Satan nor any other power can weaken or destroy your growing character. Only you could do that through disobedience. That is why Satan is so intently focused on tempting you to make decisions that will undermine your character. Satan is an accomplished master at making devastating choices appear attractive, even reasonable. So be careful. At this critical time of life you will be faced with many choices. The decisions you will make will profoundly affect life now and for eternity. Make them wisely and prayerfully."

31 DBC - Day 10 - What is my best physical feature?

Right now I am not too happy with any of my physical features.
I feel like a frump.
But to choose one I would have to say my legs. Why, when I think I have boy legs?
More like boy muscles and lucky to not have varicos veins...yet.
This is the fastest picture I could find to show the boy muscle in my left thigh.
I get compliments on my legs from people. One of those people happens to be my gym trainer, that has this awesome body. She always tells Doran that I have great legs and that she wishes SHE had legs like mine. Maybe I ought to work out better so I can see what she sees. Girl legs.

31 DBC - Day 9 - What are my worst habits?

Oh I am sure I have tons I won't even mention and I didn't dare ask the kids for suggestions on this question so you get a few off the top of my tired brain.

*Procrastination has got to be close to the top if not THE top. (UPDATE...haha, I just realized this was suppose to be posted yesterday. Hellllooo)
*Burping. I am so sorry I do this aloud. I always have such a gut ache/ulcers and I just blow up sometimes. I really do try to burp within myself....sometimes.
*I would say burning food but I think it is a gift now because my family fights over the burnt food.
*I don't have much stamina so if I can't finish something quickly I am in trouble.

31 DBC - Day 7 - Pet Peeves

Hmm another difficult post. Sometimes I need days to study these.
I guess I could always look ahead at the "next" topics. Nah...

Let's see:

*People who turn a corner into the wrong lane.

*Intentionally Rude people. I have a sign on my desk at work that says "Be nice or go away."

*People who say they will do something and don't follow through. (If you say you're going to do something, then do it. Otherwise don't be afraid to say no in the first place.)

*Stepping out of the shower without drying off first. I don't like a wet rug. I know, weird.

*I go crazy if I don't have my bed made first thing in the morning. I have to have a second pair of sheets to put on when the other ones are washing.

*An empty bottle/can whatever in the fridge or cupboard.

*Stepping in something wet with my socks. I can't stand wet socks.

*Lying. The saying in our home "I would rather hear a bad truth than a good lie."

*The words Stupid and Hate. I need to be better about the H word in my posts.

*When people talk too quiet when they know I can't hear.

*Being ignored or not responding to my messages or phone calls for hours and sometimes days or not at all even when you know they got the message.

Oh dear my list keeps growing.
I really am pretty easy going. :)

Punography 2

I stayed up all night to see where the sun went.
Then it dawned on me.

31 DBC - Day 6 - Five Senses

1 - Sense of HUMOR - I think it is so important to have a sense of humor. We need to learn to laugh at ourselves and we need to find the humor in every situation especially if we are having a rough day.

2 - Sense of STABILITY - It is so nice to have someone to count on. A life that has some stability. It is less stressful when we work hard to get out of debt and have a little in savings. Yes this may take years but it is worth the sacrifice that we have to make. For years we were under the financial burden. We are FAR from being rich but we have a little more stability now even though we continue to face layoffs.

3 - Sense of SPIRITUALITY - I believe it is so important to know where we came from and where we are going. It is wonderful to know that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and will help us in good or bad times. We will be judged by our actions so it is important to have faith and strive to be better each day. I am SO far from perfect that's why I get up each morning and try it again. I am thankful for my testimony.

4 - Sense of CHARACTER - I like the old saying "He is as good as his word." I listened to a CD a few years ago and one of the things that stuck with me is the saying "Own your words". This means to say what you really mean and follow through. This is important in your marriage relationships, your family relationships, with your friends and even with your co-workers. What you DO matters just as much as what you SAY.

5 - Sense of HONESTY - Can you imagine "signing" a contract with just a handshake or a world where you didn't have to lock your doors. If you borrowed something and you would feel awful if you didn't return it in the same condition if not BETTER?

31 DBC - Day 5 - 10 favorite songs right now

This was a tough post.
As you have read in my recent posts I usually sit in silence because if I have the radio on it has to be up loud so I can hear it. I can't turn it up loud at work and I usually listen to books on Cd's while driving.

I like most types of music but I am not very good about remembering titles and the ones that are familiar I can't remember all the words.

The first four songs I like to sing to the grand kids especially when they get restless. They will actually just sit on my lap or lay down and listen until they settle down or fall asleep. If I stop singing Brother, our grandson, usually starts crying. That's better than when I am in the car and start singing then have someone turn the radio up so loud it drowns me out. I get the hint...don't quit my day job.
These are probably the only songs that I know all of the words to.

1. I'll Walk with You
2. Teach Me To Walk in the Light
3. A Child's Prayer
4. I am a Child of God

This is a favorite that the kids like grandpa to sing. He really didn't want to do this and put it up here where everyone could see what a goon he is (his words) but he did it because he loves me, and the grand kids LOVE it when he does this. I think he is a good sport! Now if we can get their videos on here too.
5. Two Little Indians

This next one is my favorite church songs.
6. As Sister's In Zion - It talks about how we all can work together as women. The video I linked is the Young Women but I love this arrangement.

I am not much into hard rock or opera but I do love Les Miserables.
I have a bunch of songs on my running ipod with the following artists and more.

7. Alison Krauss - yes I run to slow songs too. They help me NOT think about the running pain.
8. Jackson Browne - His songs take me back to when Doran and I met. Great and tender memories.
9. Creedence Clearwater Revival
10. Eagles

Like I said I really don't know songs. I know if I hear one I can say "Oh, I like that" or "uh turn the channel please."

Punography 1

I changed my iPod name to Titanic.
It's syncing now.

31 DBC - Day 4 What am I afraid of?

I don't spiders and snakes...(spiders I can deal with but I'm singing here...) Sometimes I even fear to go the bathroom in the dark because I have heard of snakes coming up through the sewer into peoples houses by way of toilets. I have to look first.

I am afeared of sharks. As I mentioned before, ever since I watched Jaws when I was a puppy I have been afraid of sharks and going in the water. My dad LOVED to go fishing and I would often go with him on his boat but I didn't want him to get too far from land and I would ALWAYS have a life jacket on.

I am afeared of drowning. This coupled with sharks are big fears for me. I keep trying to convince myself that I could go on a cruise but have yet to try it. It's safe, it's safe they tell me and look what just happened a couple of months ago. Uh huh....safe?...not.

My biggest fear though is to lose my best friend. I can't imagine life without him. I could not survive without him. At one time when we had one of the grand kids with us she overheard him say after we have been talking about not "leaving" each other... "When we are in our 90's we will die hitting a brick wall while we are driving a Harley naked at 100
miles an hour." That was fun trying to explain to her mother what we said. She just heard driving a Harley naked.

I do not fear dying but I do fear the process. I fear that I will not have lived my life in accordance to the Savior and be able to recognize him and be accepted. I know I don't have to be perfect and I try to remind myself each day to do better and to love unconditionally. Speak kinder and love deeper.

I am SO thankful for my testimony of a FOREVER Family. For the knowledge that our Savior lives and loves us. For the Plan of Salvation. For the Atonement that allows me to repent and be forgiven and try to do better. I am thankful for the scriptures and our Prophet that gives us guidance and direction. I am thankful for my family and I pray that we can all do those things that will assure us a Forever Family.

31 DBC - Day 3 Favorite Quote

I like many quotes but I have to say my TWO most favorite.

It's Great Being Married to Your Best Friend!
This one is obvious.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting their own kind of battles.
This one is a reminder when someone cuts you off in traffic or takes your park spot or fails to smile. We really don't know the circumstances behind their actions so we need to be kind and forgiving.

31 DBC - Day 2 - 20 Things about me

20 Things about me:

1. I am hard of hearing. We found this out while I was in grade school. I tried hearing aids but they were terrible! I thought I looked like a goon and it didn't help me pick up voices anyway. It just amplified everything and was noisy. That lasted about a whole few days maybe even a month.

2. In Fourth grade(?) I had my first of many surgeries. I had my appendix removed.

3. In Fifth grade I had a bone tumor, the size of a golf ball, removed from my left arm. When I went back to school with my arm bandaged up was the same day we had class pictures. I still remember the photographer grabbing my arm to help me up on one of the steps. It took all I had to not just bawl it hurt so bad. Thus in my class picture I am close to tears.

4. When I was a puppy I went to see "Jaws" and "Poseidon Adventure". To this day I am afeared of sharks and water. I refuse to watch "Titantic" because it is just a newer show of the "Poseidon Adventure". I KNOW what happens. I wonder if I will ever get brave enough to go on a cruise? I am convinced that there are sharks in the city pool!!

 5. After having my first child I had both of my ears operated on. The Dr. then told me that after each pregnancy I would lose a little more hearing. I can't remember why he said the pregnancies/hormones would affect the hearing but it is true. I asked if I could have the surgery again about five years ago....they said no so I live in quiet world...except when I am watching TV. Talk about grandma loud!! (That's what my family says anyway.)

6. I LOVE camping! When I was a puppy most of our vacations were travelling with our camper or trailer. Now it is in my blood. I even like it when it rains so I can just sit in the trailer and enjoy playing games or reading with my best friend.

7. I LOVE reading! You can seldom catch me withOUT a book. I don't mind getting held up by a red light or a train. Nope, not at all. I usually only read LDS novels because I know that I won't come upon a sour word.

8. I have three daughters and all births have been natural and no epiziodomy except the first one I had an epiziodomy. TMI? I have had one miscarriage and since my children I had two tubals rupture within one year. The second being on my birthday. Hence, no more children for us.

9. I am a wanna-be runner. I was able to make my way up to one Half Marathon, with shorter races before and after that, before I was benched on the injured list. Trying to make my way back now but with not as much enthusiasm.

10. I break out into song when people talk or when I talk but I don't know the whole songs.

11. I detest snakes. I don't like spiders and snakes, but that ain't what it takes to love me....la la la

12. I can't stand my fingernails painted. They feel like they are suffocating!! My toenails are another story. They look naked if they don't have color and I'm not talking the black color when you lose a toenail from running.

13. I would love to visit or serve a mission for my church to Spain. That is where my ancestors are from. I would love to be fluent in Spanish.

14. I have the cutest grandchildren!

15. I have to make my bed first thing in the morning!

16. I don't like mushrooms or seafood. For yucksakes! Except I will eat tuna. Go figure.

17. I can eat a handful of nuts but do NOT put them in my food or baking stuff. I love Almonds but of course Almonds are not nuts. Trust me on this.

18. I have had bunions removed from both feet.

19. I have had my gal bladder out and looks like I may be having a hysterectomy sometime in the future. I don't think I would be a good donor....there isn't much left of me but I am thankful for the great health I have been blessed with!!

20. The best thing in the whole world is being married to my best friend, not just for now but for eternity!!
He is my ROCK!!

31 DBC - Day 1 - Introduction and Recent Photo

Introduction and Recent Photo:

Hi my name is Jody and I am a chocoholic wife, mother, grandmother oh and a FAVORITE daughter. You draw your own conclusion there.

I have been married to my best friend for over 28 years. It would have been sooner if he would have caved sooner.

We have three grown daughters.
Which means we are empty nesters!

I enjoy doing anything and everything with my best friend. It is very seldom you see us apart. He is my rock, my inspiration, my spiritual counselor, my all around best friend.

I love reading, camping and volleyball. I am a wanna be runner.
I like crafts and sewing as long as I can copy. Unfortunately I don't do them often because I use the excuse that I live in such a small cracker box. When I start a project I want it done fast.

I like crunchy food especially cookies and I am good at burning dinner but my roasts are DELICIOUS!!

In my church I am currently serving as the 6-7 year old primary teacher and the Stake Women's Sports Director.

31 Day Blog Challenge

I am hoping and crossing my fingers that I can complete this Challenge.

No, it's not an exercise or eating healthy challenge. However I do need to do something about that.

It is a Daily Blog Challenge.

I keep telling myself to get busy and post but by time I get home from work I am either too busy or too tired to get on the computer.

Well here goes nothing something, every day, for 31 days!!
