Today's Thought

"Neither Satan nor any other power can weaken or destroy your growing character. Only you could do that through disobedience. That is why Satan is so intently focused on tempting you to make decisions that will undermine your character. Satan is an accomplished master at making devastating choices appear attractive, even reasonable. So be careful. At this critical time of life you will be faced with many choices. The decisions you will make will profoundly affect life now and for eternity. Make them wisely and prayerfully."

Temple Ushers/Labor Day Weekend

Our Labor Day weekend began on Friday. We were ushers at the Brigham City Temple from 6:00 am - noon. It was a great experience! There were people from all over! We met some from Utah, N.Y., Australia. There was a short film that the visitors watched and then they were able to take a tour. There were some that didn't want to watch the film but just wanted to take the tour. Interesting...

After our usher experience we headed home to hook up the trailer, picked yummy stuff out of the garden and be on our way camping with mom and Stan. We had camping reservations up in Bear Lake. The plan was so go check in/set up camp and then head on over to the Pickleville Playhouse. We had reservations for the early show of El Banditos and then dinner.

Here is where I should have inserted a picture of our Suburban on a tow trailer. Yes, we broke down IN Logan canyon. The truck just died going up the canyon. We were so fortunate that we broke down where we did. If you are familiar with that canyon it is windy and narrow with not many places to pull over. However, where we broke down we were able to coast off in to a pull-off area. Even though we were bummed that our plans were being messed up, we were so grateful to be where we were in the canyon.

We waited until mom and Stan found us. Then they drove us down the canyon until we could get some phone reception. We had to call a tow truck for the truck and No Bawlin's (our neighbors) to come get the trailer. Luckily Clive was home. What a good doobie for him to come save us. Mom and Stan wanted to just take their trailer somewhere in the campgrounds that were close and then come and get ours but that would still leave us with only one truck with two trailers.

We were already bummed and so we told them to go on ahead and at least make it to the dinner. Maybe we would drive up the next day in the car and visit with them or try to find a cabin. Well Clive offered his truck but we don't like borrowing things like that from people so we just started for home. By the time we got to Logan Clive convinced us to just take his truck for the weekend so we dumped the trailer off at Walmart and took him home. We then headed back, picked up the trailer and drove to Bear Lake. Mom and Stan brought us dinner from Pickleville because we couldn't sell those tickets. We ended up being able to sell at least one set of tickets to the show. I was SOOO sad I missed the show. I have been wanting to see El Banditos ALL summer!

Doran and I were signed up for the Mud vs Man Mud race in Logan that we had planned on going back down for but since we had someone else's vehicle we didn't want to take it down and get it muddy and gross. So we decided (regretting our decision) to just stay in Bear Lake.

Susette was going to be in Bear Lake running a Bear Lake Monster race. I had just remember what time it was suppose to start and looked over to the back of the campground and saw runners. I didn't know where the trail was going to be but thought I would run over and see if that was the race runners. As soon as I got over there look who we saw... After chucking her jacket at us she continued on up the road.

We went and had some breakfast and when we got done we thought we would walk on up the trail to see if we could find Susette. We had no idea how long it would take her or even if she already passed. So we just continued to walk on up the hill for about 2 miles I think and look who we saw again...
We ran the rest of the way with her. So fun!

Daddy and Susette continued on for a few miles more so Susette could get her insane "marathon training miles" in while I headed back to shower. After some lunch and rain Susette headed home.

We took a ride to Paris and visited the LDS Tabernacle. What a NEAT building!!
It seemed bigger than Brigham City's because it was more open in the middle. I wonder which one is really bigger? The balcony seats were really neat too. Instead of benches sitting on the floor they kind of curved...so wish I would have taken a picture.

We took a surrey ride too!! We thought this would be so fun! When we went to rent ours we asked about the rules to renting. Well they were rented out hourly. If we came back before the hour it was the same rate. If we wanted to stay longer then we would be charged for another hour. We have been running and walking. We were in shape. Doran and I could help out more if mom and Stan got tired. (We also worry a little about Stan's heart). Well here we are ready to go!!

Well guess who needed to puke first? ME!! I kid you not! After EIGHT minutes I. WAS. DONE!!
My heart was racing so hard, I was like CART/surrey sick!!
We didn't go much further before we turned around and headed back. Doran and mom did most of the peddling. Ugh!! Even though they look fun and easy to ride I doubt I will EVER do THAT again!

On to bigger and better things.
We took a ride up past "The Ranch". This (the ranch) is where my mom grew up and where I spent many of summers. We heard that it had changed hands again and that the wells had dried up so there was no water. We had to open a gate and get through and drive on up the road to the ranch. It didn't look like anyone was there but not sure if anyone was living there. But we couldn't get Stan to break in go check if the doors were locked. So we headed back down the road.
We stopped an took a picture of this old house somewhere along the way.

We went site seeing and visited some old cemeteries.

Then we stopped and had a picnic at one of Grandpa Snoopy's favorite places. Allred Flats in Idaho.
It was fun to reminisce on what type of things Grandma and Grandpa Snoopy used to do when they went camping.

Krandpa and I played with an old pump at the campground. You had to crank this a few times for the water to start coming out.

What a fun time we had with mom and Stan. I am so glad we were able to finish our trip even though we didn't get to go to Pickleville Playhouse.
