Today's Thought

"Neither Satan nor any other power can weaken or destroy your growing character. Only you could do that through disobedience. That is why Satan is so intently focused on tempting you to make decisions that will undermine your character. Satan is an accomplished master at making devastating choices appear attractive, even reasonable. So be careful. At this critical time of life you will be faced with many choices. The decisions you will make will profoundly affect life now and for eternity. Make them wisely and prayerfully."

What were we thinking?

Today was "Take an ancestor to the temple" day. We had some names from my dad's family to do so off we go at 7:00 this morning. Hopefully we will be able to fully complete the work within the next couple of months.

Then we stopped at IHOP for our healthy breakfast. Really we did have a healthy one. Crepes and fruit and bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns. Delish!!

Off towards home to take a quick nap and then off for a run. I told daddy that I would like to try running today but I needed some downhill. Guess where we went?!?!........WHAT WERE WE THINKING?

Instead of running a couple of miles in town, to avoid some UPhills we went to the canyon. And NO, not our usual Doran run up the canyon and meet me and I will run back DOWN with him. (5 miles) NO!!! We thought we could try the "Road Sheds" run.

EIGHT, I repeat EIGHT miles!!! Remember, I haven't been running? Well ya. Audrey was heading up the canyon with a friend to walk the trails but Doran wanted 'road' today so we were lucky to have Kim give us a ride up to the sheds. Then he was going to drop Audrey off at the trails.

Did I say WHAT WERE WE THINKING?

Oh. My. Hanna!! As I sit here on the couch with the recliner up and demanding food brought to me because I can't walk is NOT a joke. If only my right leg and foot would feel as good as my left I think I could have finished with a smile on my face. Not sure who I can borrow a wheelchair from for the next couple of days.

No, I did not run ALL the way. I ran more than I thought I would but still... By time we were about 1.25 miles from home I told Doran to just leave me and GO. GET. THE. CAR!!! I was done. I was tired, hungry and achy. Even though Kim had his phone on stand-by for me to call for a mercy ride I kept plugging...uh slugging...uh chugging...well anyway. Did my best friend come back for me with the car? NO! NOT! Uh uh. By time I turned the last corner (about 4.5 blocks from home) I could see the black and white dot (that's the color he was wearing) coming my way.....on FOOT! He made it home, went in to get keys and looked up the road and decided (on his own) that I could make it the rest of the way.  Well "Bless his heart". I did. I ended up going 8 miles to my driveway in 1.5 hours. My stud of a Best Friend, that would run ahead and back for me for miles and miles, made it 9.25 miles.

Again........WHAT WERE WE THINKING???

But that's ok. We like to do everything together, even stink.
For my challenge buddies......I had THREE servings of grapefruit before I tried to fall to the floor to stretch.
